IDEAS Spring 2021
Assignments, Readings, and Resources
These are some examples of the various articles that students read and responded to for homework. They responded to these readings in the form of a discussion board. These discussion boards were free responses that allowed them to write their thoughts, opinions, and reactions to various topics.
My students listened to this podcast during one of our classes!

This was the first "mini-presentation" that students did! They also did a presentation on a minority community of their choice.
Assignments such as this allowed students to incorporate their own interests into the course topics.
Instructions for the Final Project
The final project allowed students to choose a country and investigate the various resources and government aids that were offered to victims of violence. The Global Tracker Database through the United Nations proved to be a helpful resource in seeing what steps countries were taking during covid to provide better resources to survivors.
The Last Assignment
This last assignment was an important one for me as far as feedback went, but also to allow them to apply what they have learned through the semester. Policy implications are a vital factor in creating change, and I think this assignment could get my students thinking about ways they can implement change in their communities and within their disciplines.
